There are so many wonderful walks in Fermanagh. We have compiled a short list of some of the walks we love that are just a short distance away. There are also walks for all capabilities. From those who wish to have an easy meander around the shores of Lough Erne, to those who wish to take on the heights of the Culcaigh Boardwalk.
Castle Caldwell – on our doorstep
There are some very pleasant walks around the grounds of Castle Caldwell, an ivy-clad picturesque, ruined Irish castle.
Castle Archdale Forest Park – 30 minute drive away
Castle Archdale is a former estate on the shores of Lough Erne Lower. There are many walks in the country park, of all lengths and suitabilities. The scenic drive to this historical gem isn’t bad either!
Lough Navar – 30 minute drive away
Lough Navar Forest is a magnificent site within the Culcaigh Lakelands Geopark. Extending across 2,600 hectares of bog, heath, open water, native woodland, and coniferous forest, there’s plenty to explore within this spectacular forest. It is also home to one of the most breathtaking views in the island of Ireland, over the Magho Cliffs.
Culcaigh Boardwalk – 40 minute drive away
So you want to take on the big one, The Stairway to Heaven. This walking route meanders through one of the largest expanses of blanket bog in Northern Ireland, traversing over tracks, boardwalk and staircase. A steep climb is required to reach the viewing platform which provides breathtaking views of the surrounding low lands. SEE MORE
